On this week's programme Dr. Kevin Graziano of Nevada State College discusses how the research method photovoice can be used in education, especially with those whose voices are not always heard. He was in Ireland as a guest of DICE - Development and Intercultural Education within Initial Teacher Education for whom he gave a workshop on the use of documentary photography and storytelling in the classroom.

Through these and other programmes, he introduced Irish people, including teachers, to some of the most inspirational thinkers and communicators on education. Some of what he learned on those programmes has been compiled in his book, The Curious Mind, published by Veritas. In this, the second part of my interview with John Quinn, he talks about his journey out of the classroom and into RTE. He discusses educational broadcasting and identifies some of the educators who inspired him during his distinguished career as a broadcaster.

In this programme a panel of experts discusses the recently released results from PISA which showed a decline from 2000 to 2009 in the performance of Irish 15-year-olds students in reading and mathematical literacy. The experts are Dr. Jude Cosgrove, a research associate at the Educational Research Centre and a co-author of the Irish report on PISA; Professor Seán Ó Riain, professor of sociology at NUI Maynooth; Dr. Eithne Kennedy, a teacher educator in literacy in St. Patrick's College, Dublin and Jackie O' Callaghan, the Public Relations Officer of the National Parents' Council - Second Level.
