I speak to Annie Murphy of the Marino Institute of Education who remembers Dorothy Heathcote, a major figure in drama education who passed away recently. Dr. Erika Doyle of Trinity College Dublin provides an introductory guide to how standardised tests are devised.

On this week's programme Maria Doyle, the Principal of Our Lady of Mercy Senior National School in Waterford City and a member of the Executive Committee of the Irish Primary Principals' Network (IPPN), gives advice to primary teachers who are applying for jobs. The IPPN runs the website educationposts.ie. We also hear from the Principal of Balbriggan Educate Together National School, Fintan McCutcheon, who wrote on his blog about how the Student Council in the school were involved in developing criteria for appointing new teachers in the school. Barry reports on the planned abolition of the General Teaching Council in England. He also describes changes made by the State Examinations Commission to avoid a repeat of the security breach that caused problems in last year's Leaving Certificate Exam.
